Chapter Three
Royal Ontario Golf Club
June 2024
For Chapter 3, our leaguers had the opportunity to hear from Raph Don Root, Manager of Fund Development at Golf Ontario. Raph shared more about Golf Ontario’s mission, the 1000 Ball Challenge Fundraiser and RBL’s goal of raising $10k by the end of September 2024.
For every dollar RBL raised last season, 50% went towards Golf Ontario’s GOLF FOR ALL Fund, which focuses on providing financial support to key areas of the game. The remaining 50% will fund green fees for youth and women in RISE Tribe’s community later this year.
Pre-Round
For Chapter Three, our leaguers picked up hats courtesy of our paré Matty Sak of Paré Golf.
In a game known for its stuffiness, paré takes on a free spirit and youthful approach to the game. In the filipino-community, paré is also commonly used as a slang term of endearment or to refer to someone as a friend.
These hats are their Masters-inspired Augusta hats with a simple message “Mahal Golf.”
The Round
Royal Ontario Golf Club is built on an exquisite property in Milton with a rolling countryside, nine large ponds, mature trees, both narrow and generous fairways, and a variety of green sizes. As a former home to an Equestrian Centre, this medium difficulty golf course near the GTA features large meadows outlined by dense forest.
Designed with the prevailing landscape in mind, holes were strategically placed within open spaces, allowing the existing woodlands of the Milton area to frame the fairways and greens naturally.
